Karl Ian Uy Cheng Chua is Assistant Professor of the Department of History and was Director of the Japanese Studies Program of the Ateneo de Manila University. He has received his MA in Japanese Studies from the National University of Singapore and his Ph.D in Social Sciences from Hitotsubashi University in Japan. His research includes komiks during the Japanese Occupation period in the Philippines, as well as manga during the 1930s to 1960s Japan. He is also assisting the Filipinas Heritage Library with their Roderick Hall Collection, a collection of books and papers dealing with World War II and the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines
カール・イアン・ウイ・チェン・チュアは、アテネオデマニラ大学歴史学科の助教授であり、日本研究プログラムディレクター。シンガポール国立大学にて日本学修士号、一橋大学にて社会科学博士号取得。彼の研究には、日本占領期におけるフィリピン国内のコミック（komiks）や、1930年代から1960年代の日本のマンガが含まれる。彼はまた、フィリピナス・ヘリテイジ図書館にて、第二次世界大戦と日本によるフィリピン占領を扱った書籍や論文のコレクションであるロデリックホールコレクションを支援している。
