Sharon Cabusao-Silva is a graduate of AB Development Studies at the University of the Philippines Manila and took up a certificate program on Development Management at the Asian Institute of Management. She became an activist for the women’s alliance, however, and decided to work fulltime with the group. She also briefly dabbled in film criticism as a contributor to several national newspapers in the 90’s. Sharon helped found an independent tabloid in 2004. She was a fellow for fiction in two national writers workshops in the Philippines and became a political prisoner in 2015. Her case was dismissed due to lack of merit in 2016. She also briefly served as spokesperson for KAPAYAPAAN Campaign for a Just and Lasting Peace. She currently serves as Coordinator of Lila Pilipina, an organization of Filipino women victims of Japanese wartime military sexual slavery.
