Yoshio Shirakawa

Yoshio Shirakawa is an artist. After graduated from the National Dusseldorf Art University in 1981, he is based in Gunma Prefecture. In 1993, he founded an art activity group “Place – Gunma,” which connected the neiborhood and art. In 2017 his work “Memorial for the Forced Labor of Koreans in Gunma Prefecture” has created a stir when removed just before the opening of ” Art of Gunma 2017-Where Contemporary Art is in the Local Community (Gunma Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, 2017)” . In addition to his three-dimensional works and paintings, his wide range of activities include as a writer including; “Dada in Japan 1920-1970” (1988-2005), “Art as a Gift” (2013), and “The Problem of Sculpture” (co-authored in 2017).

白川昌生は、美術作家。1981年デッセルドルフ國立美術大学を卒業した後、群馬県を拠点に活動。1993年には地域と美術をつなぐ美術活動団体「場所、群馬」を創設。2017年「群馬県朝鮮人強制連行慰霊碑」が「群馬の美術 2017 – 地域における現代美術の居場所」開催直前に出品取り消しとなり、話題を呼ぶ。立体作品や絵画作品のほか「日本のダダ 1920-1970」1988-2005年、「贈与としての美術」2013年、「彫刻の問題」共著2017年の執筆など多岐にわたる活動を行う。
